Los Angeles Paint Dancing is about to lift off at Art Rebel in Sherman Oaks. We will supply you with everything all you have to bring is yourself and get ready to paint and dance. The cost is $20 and we will donate part of the proceeds to a local food bank.

Paint Dancing offers you a fun and supportive community devoted to creative expression through art, dance, and both at the same time.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
* a warm welcome
* the freedom to dance, paint, or do both at the same time, according to how you feel
* music that is eclectic, evocative, & movement-inducing, including funk, world music, hip hop, electronica, reggae, house, blues, jazz, dance classics & more.
* a group of friendly, fun-loving, non-judgmental people to share in your dancing & painting

WHAT TO BRING:
* your friendly, fun-loving, non-judgmental self, dressed for a little mess (NOT "dressed to impress"), wearing comfy shoes for dancing
* your own water bottle to drink from (we have water!)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FROM PAST EVENTS

Q: I'm not good at dancing (or painting), and I'm afraid I'll feel inhibited and judged.
A: We can't guarantee how you'll feel, but we can guarantee that you're not alone in those fears. Lots of us share those feelings to some extent. In our community, feelings like this fade away pretty fast.

Q: What if I just want to dance (or just want to paint)?
A: In any moment, you're free to dance, paint, or do both at the same time.

Q: Do I need to bring a partner? Can I dance on my own? Where do people dance?
A: No, you don't need to bring a partner. Some people dance while they paint, in front of the painting-in-progress tacked to the wall. Some people dance out on the dance floor, away from the painting areas. Some people choose to dance solo - as part of the crowd; others choose to dance in partnership or in spontaneously-forming small groups. It's up to you. Everyone is always painting, dancing, or doing both.

Q: Is all the painting "solo?"
A: No. We provide a helpful labeling system so you can decide and control if you want to paint solo or join in a collaborative creation.

Q: Can I take my paintings home?
A: Yes. If you co-create with others, you'll cross that bridge when you come to it. Paintings left behind are reused or recycled.

Q: Is this a class to learn how to paint or dance?
A: No. But you'll learn something new if you come ready to paint & move.

It started slowly with small paper and brushes but got wild quickly with a large canvas for everyone to paint on and pumpinjg music that made everyone dance....we danced at the art work and all around the studio Ponti and his wife weere gracious hosts and very affectionate everyone felt welcome and apprieciated paper got bigger and creative really started to flow I stayed till the end and made several friends ...tollk several cards and had a great time in all!

Art Rebel on Ventura is a very hip cool space and the owner, Ponti, really fun and helpful. The music was loud and great and the people were fun. There was so much to do but my favorite thing was contributing to the big canvas and creating a community masterpiece! Could have been more dancing. But overall a success.
    •  Fun space, welcoming hosts, great people and creative supplies! Cool way to combine art and dance!

Everyone that attended was happy to see Los Angeles Paint Dancing finally take off the ground. People were having fun doing 2 things they love to do: Painting & Dancing.
    • Ruth (+1 guest)
The people were nice but I thought it needed more guidance. It was painting, with music and not much move ent. I though it would be more integrative! Although, I thought the host was cool but I thought it could have been more with a liitle more direction or interaction. Painting can be very solitary.
