Montreal Social Dance Meet Up

This Meet-Up group aims to bring together people who love to dance with a partner - plain and simple. The purpose is to dance to all types of music by simply using the basics of social dance - rhythm, hand and body connection and emotion - without being forced into a strict dance style for each specific type of music. This opens the possibility of dancing with another regardless of expertise or music. We view this as allowing social dance to being a creative - and truly social - endeavour by permitting the incorporation of each person's movement and history. We rent a hall on St. Urbain St. (near Rachel) on the third Saturday of each month where we hire a DJ and begin the evening with a free lesson in partners dancing with the renowned Montreal instructor, Gil Sanchez. There is a cash bar and dancing continues into the wee hours of the morning to a wide variety of rhythms. Please note that it is not necessary to come with a partner.
