The New York City Dance Network is made up of Professional, Semi Professional, and Serious Amateur Dancers, Choreographers, Students of dance ...of all styles. It is an opportunity to interact with each other in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Network is a great place to talk about your dance form, Promote your dance events, create dance events and Network with others.
There are no dues, but Members are expected to volunteer at least 2 hours of their time per year. This can be done by creating a workshop / event, or assiting in a workhop / event.
Hello Dance Network Members! I became organizer of the NYC DANCE NETWORK Group March 8, 2005. http://dance.meetup.c... It was without an organizer for a long time. I kept waiting but nothing happened. So?here I am. I am hoping to have several types of events each month. I would like to make the events inclusive and.. I hope... Fun. With that said, I also hope to see you soon... I welcome comments, questions and suggestions.
PLEASE FILL OUT ALL THE PROFILE QUESTIONS AND SUBMIT A PHOTOGRAPH OF YOURSELF
Although we are based in New York City, I am also posting events that are international in nature. My intention is to post international dance festivals, symposiums, and congresses etc...such that we can all MEETUP. I have met some of the most wonderful dancers while abroad at internatioanl conferences.
I encourage EVERYONE to join our group no matter where you live.
I hope this group can be many things for us perhaps including: support/encouragement for professionals and aspiring professionals, partner search for social dancers, networking for all, attend free events together, sharing of un-needed season tickets, etc!
TENTATIVE GROUP STRUCTURE
1) *Monthly Events*, where we socialize and enjoy the night life in New York by visiting restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs. I welcome suggestions and help co-organizing these! Dancers need to meet each other, not just for support , but for business purposes too. developing events such that dancers can meet each other. as dancers, we tend to stay in our own "circles". come out and meet other dancers.
2) Weekly or biweekly * Cultural Events * for members who are interested in going to performances. this is intended for dancers and the non dancers of this group.
3) Having events where members ?teach? each other members their dance form. Primarily via demonstration or workshops. Where everyone can attend; regardless of skill or background, and network and socialize. I encourage all dance members to contact me if you would like to host a workshop.
4) Maybe having other ?offshoot? meetings/events for people who have similar interests or specializations.
5) National and International networking of Dancers via this website.
